1st hand-made garment



This is my first hand-made garment and is dedicated just for him as birthday present..


ZIPPED JACKET

from Debbie Bliss (Special family knits)


Started on 1st June 2010 - finished on 31 Oct 2010.

I bought Sirdar wool Snuggly dk (55% nylon,45% acrylic) from Haby & Wools Ampang Park
>use 4mm needle
Colour: Dark blue and lime green

I was supposed to follow the size of 102-107cm (to fit chest) but because of my
tension is 22 st x 30 row (smaller than suggested in d book),
so i decided to follow the biggest size from the book
(hoping by using my tension will yield the size that i wanted)
p/s: a lil bit of math and estimation instinct are needed here..hehe

i was so happy when i juz finished knit the 1 st piece..
i kept staring at it...kept smiling juz like i already finished making a garment..
until my housemate reminded me that i only did 1 piece, 4 pieces to go..hehe..

i continued making 2 fronts and 2 sleeves which took me another 3 months..
before joining raglan seams..

Here it was..joining piece by piece..


dis moment...hvn't hide the ends yet..

making the collar..instead 10 inch high, i only did 8 inch..
so out of time at dis moment..(29 oct 2010)


30 oct 2010 : woke up early in the morning to hide all the ends...it took quite some times..
join side and sleeve seams....
sent the sweater for zip sewing..
zip length : 70 cm
type of zip: open-ended zip

31 oct 2010: Flipped the collar and neaten the zipped area..

My next knitting project

I'm targeting of doing a garment either for myself or for him..

and I've found several patterns from debbie bliss (who caught my eyes)..stunning!!!!

really can't resist..

i'll try to finish up a garment soonest although i don even know how to sew..

hehe..

For my own note: (adjusting tension)
4.0 mm needle for Sirdar dk Snuggly 179 yds (mixture of acrylic & nylon)
for 10 cm sq = will yield 22 st & 30 rows..

Specially for my daddy..

Dis is my recent project..a scarf for my dad..

I cast on 48 st..
(must be in the count of four so that i'll start with knit n end with purl in every row)

by using 4mm knitting needle.

design: *2 knit, 2 purl* repeat..

yarn material: 100% merino wool
(maroon)

whole project: 3 balls of 50 g yarn

opsie..some faulty can be seen clearly here in a row...blame the biology clock..
so sleepy at that time..but don wanna undo it at dat time..(L word was covering all over me) ngeee


dis is how it looks like in closure..simple but nice..and also take quite some times.

End product : length 147 cm, width 13 cm

Blackpepper meat pie with cheddar crust

This is the last wish from my beloved grandma b4 she died.
I was so shocked at that time when she requested me to make
this pie for her as i knew that she didn't eat CHEESE at all.

So this is it....the recipe... =)


Cheddar crust:

2 cups of flour
2/3 cup cold butter
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
6-8 tbs ice water
1/4 ts ground black pepper

Meat filling:

1 tbs ketchup
1 tbs worchestershire sauce
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 egg
3 biji overcooked potatoes (rebus)--biar lembik sedikit
1 big yellow onion
1 packet Ramly ground beef
1 cup chopped carrot (rebus)
1 can button mushroom (chopped)

How to:

  1. Campurkan tepung, butter, cheese, dan black pepper dalam 1 bowl besar. then tambahkan cold water sedikit demi sedikit sehingga doh boleh dikepal. Bahagikan bahagian kepada 3 bahagian.
  2. 2/3 bahagian digunakan untuk dasar pie. Bentukkan doh dalam bekas pie 8" dan cucukkan dasar pie dengan garfu to create the air ventilation in the pie afterward.
  3. Untuk filling, tumiskan bawang bersama daging sehingga naik bau/lembut. Then, masukkan daging yang telah dimasak ke dalam bowl besar dan campurkan kesemua bahan diatas.
  4. Akhir sekali, masukkan ground black pepper dan garam secukup rasa.
  5. Masukkan filling ke dalam bekas pie dan tutupkan pie menggunakan 1/3 bahagian yg tinggal td. cucukkan sedikit cover pie td dengan garfu. sapukan sedikit kuning telur untuk menaikkan seri pie..(jika mau) =)
  6. Bakar pada suhu 190 C selama 45-60 minit.

Resepi ni yana dah alter ikut cita rasa sendiri..kdg2 ade jgak bahan yg diletak lebih atau yg tidak diletak sbb terlupe..hehehe

Resepi ni 1st skali mama buat kt umah..pastu cm rasa sedap la plak..
then amek resepi nie kt mama n buat kt umah sewa yana..sedap sbb pedas dan berkuah...
Rase ala ala tomyam cket...

Bahan2:

1 ekor ikan siakap
2 serai (diketuk)
1/2 inch lengkuas (cincang)
1 inch halia (sliced)
20 cili padi (diketuk)
4 bwg merah (kecik)
3 bwg putih
akar ketumbar
daun ketumbar
1 asam keping
1 bj limau nipis (diperah)
garam
1 ts gula
5-6 bj sayur bendi

Cara2:

  1. Blend kan bwg merah, bwg putih, dan akar ketumbar. (kdg2 yana potong je sume kalo penyakit M dah datang..hehehe)
  2. Letakkan ikan ke dalam kuali dan rendamkan ikan dengan bahan yg telah diblend td (bwh api kecik).
  3. Masukkan asam keping, jus limau nipis, serai, lengkuas dan halia.
  4. Jika dilihat hampir didih, masukkan bendi, garam dan gula.. Yana masukkan bendi last skali sbb xnk overcook..tutup kuali sehingga masak..last skali taburkan daun ketumbar..baunye saaaaaangat la harum..
Kuah ikan akan sedikit slimy sbb lendir bendi.yum..yum..I'm a bendi lover =)


Nice cardigans but can't find the patterns


Yana naik gila mencari knitting project..cantik sgt cardigan ni..tp xjumpe la pattern die..kt mph pon cm limited sgt buku knitting..
This is the most wanted sweater...but xde pattern la plak..aiseh..syg btol..kalo la ade sesape yg expert yg leh bagi yana pattern untuk knit sweater nie, kan best..hehehe =)

Baked Cheese Rice


Needy:
1 1/2 cups uncooked rice
5 garlic cloves
200g mushroom
1/2 can of Campbells mushroom paste soup
butter/ olive oil
shredded mozarella & cheddar cheese
salt & pepper
Chinese parsley


How:

Melt butter.. Add mushrooms until tender. Then add rice, salt & pepper. Stir well. Wait until mixture is cold, transfer it into rice cooker. Add garlic cloves & water.

When rice is cooked, transfer again into oven-safe dish. Add in mushroom paste soup on top of rice.

The rice is layered in between mushroom paste soup (make it several layers).
It tastes so good when it is layered.

Scatter mozarella cheese & parsley on top of the layered rice and bake in oven for 20-25 min or until the cheese melt in 200 C.
